🚩 Red Flags Detected

!
Employer phone answered with personal greeting
"Hello?" instead of company name - could be fake reference
!
Company website registered recently (<1 year)
Check domain registration date - shell companies often have new domains
!
Rushing to sign / offering extra deposit
Pressure tactics or unusual eagerness can signal desperation to bypass screening
!
Income doesn't match lifestyle/vehicle
Claimed income doesn't explain expensive car, clothes, or current residence
!
Cannot verify previous landlord owns property
Property records don't show "landlord" as owner - might be fake reference
!
Reluctant to provide bank statements
Hesitation to show financial history may indicate something to hide

💡 Pro Verification Tips

WHOIS the Employer Domain
Use whois.domaintools.com to check when the company website was registered. Shell companies often have domains <1 year old.
Google the Phone Number
Search the employer's phone number in quotes. Legitimate businesses appear in directories. VoIP numbers used for fraud often have no history.
Property Records Check
Use your county assessor's website to verify the previous "landlord" actually owns the property. Many fraudsters use friends as fake references.
Ask Unexpected Questions
When verifying employment, ask about specifics: "What floor does John work on?" or "Who's his direct manager?" Liars stumble on details.
Check Pay Stub Math
Verify YTD totals match weekly/bi-weekly amounts. Fake pay stubs often have calculation errors or missing tax withholdings.
Social Media Deep Dive
Check Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn for lifestyle consistency. Someone claiming $40k shouldn't be posting from Bali every month.
